About The Project

The first step to helping our clients includes gathering important information. This information will help shape the rest of the project.

Company History

Palm’s Barber Shop located in Culver City and was established January 1st 2021 but the shop itself has been family owned since 1995. At Palm’s Barbershop they strive to provide consistency in their craft. This explains why clients are willing to line up outside and wait to get a fresh cut from our client and his staff.

Project Brief

For this project we designed a Logo, Business Cards & a Price Menu.

Project Goals

Our goal was to design a brand that would appeal to our client as well as to his target audience all while making his barbershop stand out from the two neighboring barbershops.

Project Challenges

Some of the challenges we faced were creating something outside of the usual barbershop look, Designing something new with traditional feel and Stepping outside of the usual barbershop colors but keeping a timeless feel.

Sketching

Sketching is a vital step in the process of design. This is where we build on ideas and let the customer decide what designs work best for them.

Project Specification

When building a brand every detail of the logo is important to the overall feel of the brand. Choosing the right colors and fonts are just as important as the art work.

Colors

We presented many color options to the client but highly recommended the Gold, Black & White color pallet. We felt the positive meaning behind these colors would be a great representation of the client and his company.

Gold is a color that inspires positivity, wisdom & warmth.
Black represents value, timelessness, sophistication and formality

Fonts

For the font we wanted to stick to thick fonts that would add a traditional feel to the logo. Since we were not using the traditional barbershop colors and still wanted it to have a traditional feel it was important to use this font style. The client’s final font choices were Abril Fatface Regular and Cream Cake Regular.

Symbols

The client had the idea of having the palm tree leaves incorporated into the logo. We decided to use the iconic barber’s blade as the base that would hold up the palm tree leaves. The barber’s blade in this industry represents skill and precision which we found fit the client perfectly.
