About The Project

Company History

The United Nations Association is a non-governmental organization established 75 years ago. They are dedicated to educating, inspiring and mobilizing Americans to support the principals and vital work of the United Nations and it’s agencies in LA.

Project Brief

For this project we were asked to design several pieces for UN Day 2020 featuring Ndaba Mandela as the keynote speaker. We designed a banner for their Evite webpage, a social media flyer & 2 e-mail flyers. The banner we made for this project was also featured on Good Day LA to promote the event. Project Goals

The goal for this project was to design pieces for this event that looked fun and celebratory but still stayed true to the UNA and it’s goals.

Project Challenges

The biggest challenge was creating all pieces on a very tight timeline as well as keeping the designs consistent with all the other pieces that we had already produced for the client.

Sketching

Sketching is a vital step in the process of design. During the sketching process we were able to determine what elements we would use to get all the pieces to keep a consistent look and where all the information would go.

Project Specification

When building a brand every detail of the logo is important to the overall feel of the brand. Choosing the right colors and fonts are just as important as the art work.

Colors

We wanted to use the colors that best represent the UNA so the colors for each design match the colors on the SDG wheel. Although some of the colors look the same, all 17 are actually different and represent a different topic/issue that the UNA focuses on addressing.

Fonts

For these projects we used Impact, different variations of Segoe UI (Italic, Semi light & bold) & Arial Narrow. The client requested to have a clean bold font for what needed to stand out and a clean legible font for the information sections.

Symbols

The Symbols that gets used throughout these designs are the SDG Wheel and the SDG descriptive squares.
